Secure government grants for information security and information security strategies
To all Bavarian local authorities and their associations: municipalities, districts, cities, and market towns
As part of efforts to improve information security for all Bavarian local authorities and their associations, the State Office for Information Security (LSI) notes that Bavarian municipalities are required to have implemented an information security policy. The legal basis for this is Art. 43 Abs. 1 BayDiG. The Bavarian State Ministry offers grants to support the development and implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS).

What exactly is information security, and why is it so important, especially for public institutions?
- Information security is generally defined as the
protection of IT systems against damage and threats - Information security and cybersecurity encompass all technical and organizational measures
- These include, for example, access controls, rights management, proxies, risk assessment, etc.
- Information security is an ongoing process. Public institutions and businesses, in particular, should therefore continuously review their status and security measures
- Cybercrime and the associated threats are becoming increasingly complex, and attackers are growing more professional.
- The problem: As connectivity increases, so does the attack surface. Any device that isn’t adequately protected represents a potential entry point for cybercriminals.
- This makes it all the more important for companies of all sizes and in all industries to effectively protect their IT systems from threats and damage.
