Moving On-Premise Servers to the Data Center

With on-premise servers, servers located in-house are moved to a data center. The physical server and cabinet are not moved to a data center, but the data and applications are moved to servers in the data center.

An on-premise server consists of computing power, memory and storage space (+backup storage space). Required are licenses (Microsoft & standards such as backup and antivirus protection) as well as peripherals such as UPS, air conditioning, rooms with access controls and power.

In addition, staff is needed for operations:

  • operation of peripherals
  • updates
  • monitoring / surveillance
  • virus protection
  • backups
  • exchange / addition of hardware
  • troubleshooting in case of problems
  • ensure availability
  • deploy new SRV records
  • migrate new server operating systems
  • provide databases
