Initial situation:

E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH is a leading energy company in Germany. With its 6,000 employees, the company ensures that the citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany are reliably supplied with electricity and natural gas. To modernize the communication infrastructure for 50 international employees and shift costs to OpEx, E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH decided to engage an external IT service provider.

Solution:

The collaboration between E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH and CosH began with the decision to integrate some of CosH’s laptop offerings into E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH’s EP Portal. To do this, E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH utilized the CosH Workplace Enterprise platform. Workplace Enterprise is an asset management solution for companies, their employees, and service providers. Through the portal, international employees could select a hardware product customized specifically for them, equipped with the appropriate licenses and software offerings, and rolled out in countries such as Poland, Sweden, England, and France.

Another key aspect of the collaboration was the Microsoft 365 environment, which played a central role in communication between E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH and CosH. As a certified Microsoft Silver Partner, CosH was able to provide reliable support for Microsoft products and, thanks to the partnership, offer improved terms and solutions. The Microsoft 365 cloud solution includes not only Microsoft’s well-known Office suites but also additional services such as Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.

E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH uses CosH’s mobile device management solution to enable its employees to communicate securely and in compliance with the GDPR, even when they are away from the office. E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH opted for Apple mobile devices, which CosH also procured and set up. MDM facilitated the integration of the mobile phones into the company’s systems and significantly reduced the IT department’s workload. In addition to compliance with all data protection requirements, the focus was also on internal security policies for mobile communication. To optimally secure the end devices, Kaspersky Endpoint Security and the Hornetsecurity software solution for protecting the Office 365 environment were deployed. In addition, CosH handles patch management to close potential security gaps. Updates are first rolled out in a test environment to avoid compatibility issues on the end-user devices.

Furthermore, the CosH User Helpdesk is available to E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH to answer minor inquiries via first-level support Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more complex issues, E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH also receives support from second-level support, with a Service Level Agreement (SLA) guaranteeing a resolution within eight hours.

Business Benefits:

E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH has decided to outsource certain IT services in order to shift from CapEx to OpEx. This decision was made in response to the growing availability of “as a Service” and cloud services in recent years. Instead of purchasing assets itself, the company now leases them. This results in short- and long-term cost advantages, such as the reduction of financing risks. Thanks to the Workplace Enterprise Portal, E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH can respond quickly and flexibly to changes in demand. CosH now handles the procurement of licenses, the purchase of hardware, the provision of devices, and their maintenance. This results in transparent fixed costs and reduces the workload on the IT department at E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH.
