Initial situation:
As an online digital marketing agency, Mediengruppe Nürnberg GmbH supports and optimizes the media branding, social media, and web and software development efforts of various companies and organizations. As an online marketing agency with ten employees, MGN delivers powerful brand communication from a single source. As the official media partner of the Ice Tigers Nuremberg, MGN produces Ice Tigers TV, which is popular with fans and is known far beyond the city limits of Nuremberg.

Problem:
MGN needed powerful and secure systems for content production. In order to keep up with the ever-increasing demands for data volumes, performance requirements and, above all, in the area of IT security, future-proof IT concepts must be developed. A cloud-enabled communications solution for MGN’s internal staff has been lacking for productive work. With an average data volume of 22 GB per day, MGN’s previous network experienced performance and security degradation. In close cooperation with CosH Consulting GmbH, the concept of a high-end solution was developed, which includes the implementation of high-performance servers, a security concept and rentable IT workstations in a highly available IT environment.
Solution:
In order to always be able to create state-of-the-art customer requests quickly and reliably, high-end computers and notebooks were provided on a leasing basis through the Workplace as a Service concept. With the leasing model, the desktops and notebooks are exchanged for new ones every three years and thus always remain state-of-the-art. MGN’s new storage and network system was implemented during ongoing operations and without interruption. The Nuremberg media group benefits above all from higher performance and greatly expanded storage capacity with high transfer rates. Proactive monitoring allows the CosH service team to keep track of all devices, licenses and backups. Thanks to the know-how and flexible use of IT hardware, the specified financial and time targets were achieved. The technical and financial transparency gained through the Workplace as a Service concept shows the Nuremberg media group the actual costs for the complete IT landscape and helps in the planning and implementation of future investments. With the automated backup solution, MGN was able to reduce its previous backup costs by 70% and its administrative burden by 90%. In addition, the introduction of Microsoft 365 Services secures all communication via Teams and file storage in Microsoft OneDrive (and on physical servers at the site).
